Conduct study on low cost desalination technology of brackish water, and the effects of drought and heat stress on the plant growth, and resolve the problem of moisture conservation for sand soil;

Select and breed species such as salt tolerance crops, forage grass and high value added plants which are suitable for the project;

integrate experimental research, ecological management demonstration and development of sand industry, which can be the inner power for the sustainable development of the project;

Conduct research on breeding and grafting technique of Xanthoceras Sorbifolia, including composition analysis and utilization of natural products. With continuing development of bio-fuel industry, attention should also be paid to the research & development of bio-chemical and bio-medical products; a base which combines the agriculture, forestry and animal husbandry would be built during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, with the ecological benefits from the project, the local environment can be improved. The establishment of this scientific and reasonable whole industry chain would do an evidently contribution to the local social and economic development.

Carry out scientific assessment of the underground water balance and ecological environmental risks of the project. Study the carbon sink process and ecological threshold during the cultivation of ecological forest and utilization of underground water. With the development project the technical specifications and standards of sand industry would be established, and the technical service team and the scientific achievements transformation platform would be formatted.

In implementation of the Kashgar project, establishment of Shiny leaf Yellow Horn plantations has been well integrated with academic research by The Minzhu Univeristy of Dalian and mixed plantation of different cash crops, which are elements of sand industry development for the region. More efforts could be made should there be a Phase-II or related new project(s).

Conduct research on breeding and grafting technique of Xanthoceras Sorbifolia, including composition analysis and utilization of natural products. The recommendation could be considered should there be a Phase-II or related new project(s).  as key elements in the entire supply chain of bio-fuel industry in Xinjiang, the proposed breeding/grafting research for the targeted species should be given priority in a Phase-II or related new projects.
