The IGP would benefit from a refocusing of activities. The IGP would benefit from a refocusing of activities. The programme should be narrower in scope with fewer objectives and partners. The refocusing of the programme should be based on a combination of UNDP strategic objectives with best performing agencies and institutions from the programme.

To create a separate project for Prevention of Violent Extremism. The project is thematically different from the rest of the programme and need not be considered as part of the IGP. The project as a separate line of funding already and will need collaboration with other UN agencies.

The refocusing of the programme should be based on a combination of UNDP strategic objectives with best performing agencies and institutions from the programme.

The programme will have 2 main areas of work in moving forward; establishing planning mechanisms and support to strengthen rule of law.

The PVE project’s objective, approach and implementation is fully in line with the current governance programme, therefore we did not need to create a separate project. Especially, the citizen engagement and social engagement interventions follow the same outputs in the governance programme on increasing voice and participation of citizens including vulnerable groups such as women and youth.  Also, creating another project will tremendously increase transaction costs.  UNDP has applied a programme approach since the current CPD cycle. Creating a new project just for PVE is not in alignment with this approach.
