1. Recommendation:

In the design of future projects UNDP should focus on getting a clearer identification of other of its priorities, such as the SDGs, which should be articulated with different indicators, activities and outputs.

Project documents, such as the Wetlands Project, developed prior to the Sustainable Development Agenda did not include SDG considerations nor gender gap analysis. The latest Project document formats already establish linkages between SDGs, as well as within other international and national frameworks such as UNDAF, UNDP Strategic plans.

2. Recommendation:

From the design of projects, with an early and specific identification of the stakeholders that cause threats to wetland ecosystems (or any other biodiversity element) UNDP may further enhance project beneficiaries and allies, as well as inclusion of relevant social groups on prioritized issues (gender, fight against poverty, others).

New project requirements for GCF, GEF, AF require specific screening for stakeholders, nevertheless LPAC will review that adequate and early identification of social, productive sectors are involved at initial stages of project development and throughout implementation.

3. Recommendation:

UNDP should position gender as a necessary and strategic topic from the formulation phases of the projects, with clear indicators.

UNDP office is undergoing gender seal certification which requires a review of all processes so that gender is mainstreamed in operations and programmatic approach.
