1. Recommendation:

Continue to the creation of a comprehensive support system with a dedicated platform on the rule of law for all the stakeholders, and a clear definition of the roles and responsibilities and increased coordination.

Agree. UNDP already recognises the importance of comprehensive support and having dedicated platform. This is reason for the inclusion of the Justice actors in the Access to Justice Board. In addition, for current projects such as the one on Fiji Police Force, within the rule of law and access to Justice, UNDP has created a platform of stakeholders for regular strategic meetings and reviews. For future investment by UNDP into the sustainability of the Justice Sector in Fiji and replicating the Access to Justice work in other Pacific Island Countries

3. Recommendation:

Support the work for harmonisation between the traditional and formal justice system to avoid conflicts over norms in the communities.

Agree. This is an area of interest for UNDP to venture into and develop project that will strengthen the traditional justice system to be more compatible to the modern system and in consistent with the formal justice system in Fiji.

Agree. This is the core role of the Judicial Department and Legal Aid Commission. With additional funding for a phase two of Access to Justice in Fiji will provide the opportunity to strengthen the accessing of information of the justice system and accessing justice services.

Encourage partnership and cost-sharing arrangements amongst government departments and CSOs.

7. Recommendation:

Ensure an accurate assessment of the partners' capacities to implement the output and potential challenges and avoid issues such as the delay in the implementation of a key component of the project.
