Conservation of globally important biodiversity and associated land and forest resources of Western Tian Shan mountain ecosystems to support sustainable livelihoods/GEF
The project objective is: to promote a landscape approach to protection of internationally important biodiversity, and land and forest resources in the Western Tian Shan (WTS) mountains, with the project components :
- Conservation and sustainable management of Key Biodiversity Areas within the WTS.
- Ecosystem resilience and habitat connectivity in WTS are enhanced by regulating land and forest use in buffer zones and corridors.
- Strengthening national capacities for regional and global cooperation.
Output 4.1 Natural resources protected and managed to enhance sustainable productivity and livelihoods
Output 4.2 Public and private investment mechanisms mobilized for biodiversity, water, oceans, and?climate solutions
Goal 15. Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss
15.1 By 2020, ensure the conservation, restoration and sustainable use of terrestrial and inland freshwater ecosystems and their services, in particular forests, wetlands, mountains and drylands, in line with obligations under international agreements
