Formalise PPPs for Kafue National Park and West-Lunga National Park
Management Response: [Added: 2021/05/07]
Management fully agrees with the recommendation : Government recognises the role that the private sector plays in the development of the wildlife sector particularly as investors in both consumptive and non-consumptive tourism in PAs and customary lands. These investments generate the revenues that finance conservation programmes. Government is therefore desirous to increase private sector participation as articulated in the National Parks and Wildlife Policy of 2018. Further, Government has active collaborative agreements (MoUs) with some private sector players regarding management of wildlife resources. However, the PPP that was being developed in West Lunga during the project lifespan could not be completed due to change in the prospective private sector partner’s business focus.
